Weekly Workload Cap

A weekly workload cap is a preset limit on deep work or training hours—forcing tradeoffs so every week cannot stay temporarily maxed out.

A weekly workload cap is a hard limit on deep-work hours, meetings, or training sessions—written before the week starts, not negotiated away when Monday feels ambitious. Caps force tradeoffs: one extra client call means one fewer interval day.

They prevent slow-burn burnout where every week is temporarily intense. Review caps against sleep and mood, not only output pride.

Adjust up only when leading indicators stay green two weeks.

Common questions

  • What is a realistic first workload cap?

Set ten to fifteen percent below last week’s actual logged hours. If you never hit the cap, it was too loose; if you breach daily, shrink scope or renegotiate deadlines.
