Shoulder External Rotation

Shoulder external rotation trains the rotator cuff and rear shoulder to balance pressing and desk posture. Light, controlled reps beat heavy ego loading for joint health.

Shoulder external rotation strengthens the rotator cuff and rear shoulder—band pull-aparts, side-lying dumbbell external rotations, and face pulls—to balance pressing volume and desk internal rotation. Use light load and high control; ego weight causes irritation.

Program two to three times weekly around push days.

Common questions

  • How heavy should external rotation exercises be?

Stay light enough for strict form—often two to three sets of twelve to twenty with bands or small dumbbells. Pain means reduce load and check technique.
