Serratus Wall Slide

Serratus wall slides combine overhead arm motion with upward rotation of the scapula against a wall, strengthening the serratus anterior for stable overhead lifting.

Serratus wall slides combine overhead arm motion with upward rotation of the scapula against a wall, strengthening the serratus anterior for stable overhead lifting. Stand with forearms on the wall, slide arms up while pressing gently into the surface and keeping ribs down.

Stop before lumbar extension takes over. Two to three sets of eight to twelve reps work well in warm-ups.

Combine with band pull-aparts for a simple shoulder prep block.

Common questions

  • Why train the serratus anterior?

A strong serratus helps upward rotation and protraction, which supports safe overhead reach and reduces impingement-style stress.

  • Can wall slides replace overhead pressing?

No. They are prep and rehab volume; heavy pressing still needs progressive load once movement quality is solid.
