Self-Myofascial Release Routine

A self-myofascial release routine targets recently trained muscles with brief roller, ball, or gun work—ten to fifteen minutes beats marathon grinding.

A self-myofascial release routine sequences foam roller, ball, and optional gun passes across the muscles you trained in the last forty-eight hours—sixty to ninety seconds per area, slow breathing, no heroic pain. Ten to fifteen minutes post-session or on rest days is enough for most lifters.

Skip areas with sharp joint pain or swelling.

Common questions

  • Should SMR replace stretching?

Use both—SMR for tender muscle bellies, dynamic or static stretches for range you need in tomorrow's session. Neither replaces sleep, food, or load management.
