Heat Acclimation Training
Heat acclimation training adapts sweat rate, heart rate, and comfort through gradual warm exposure over one to two weeks. It lowers heat stress before hard efforts in hot weather.
Heat acclimation training gradually exposes you to warm environments so sweat rate, plasma volume, and perceived effort adapt—usually seven to fourteen days of easy sessions in heat before hard intervals. Benefits include lower core temperature and heart rate at the same pace.
Hydrate with sodium when sweating heavily.
Common questions
-
How long does heat acclimation last?
Most adaptations fade within one to two weeks without heat exposure. Maintain with occasional warm sessions if you travel between climates.
-
Is heat training safe for everyone?
People on certain medications, with cardiovascular conditions, or pregnancy should get clinician clearance. Stop if dizziness, confusion, or nausea appear.
