Anchor Habit

An anchor habit is a reliable existing routine used to attach new behaviors through stacking. Pick stable anchors before adding more habits.

An anchor habit is a stable existing routine—morning coffee, commute, bedtime brush—that holds new behaviors in place via habit stacking. Anchors must already be reliable; attaching meditation to a chaotic morning fails.

One new habit per anchor until it sticks, then expand.
